OJCOW NATIONAL PARK more...

In the region of Lesser Poland many charming and unusual places can be found. Some of these places are located on the „Eagles’ Nest” trail which is on our trip schedule. Valley Pradnika – the heart of the Jurassic land mass located in the area of the Ojców National Park, attracts tourists with its picturesque landscape: rocky valleys, various rock formations, caves – all surrounded by forests.

Amongst objects that can be seen during the tour in the Ojcowski National Park are: the Pieskowa Skala Castle, ruins of Ojcow Castle, cave of „Łokietek” and the „Chapel on Water”. The most impressive is the „Club of Hercules”- the unbelievable limestone column which seems to be placed upside down. The Ojcowski National Park is being ranked among the smallest parks in Poland. Nevertheless, this area has one of the richest diversities of vascular plants and colonies of bats that live in nearly 600 caves.

You can also consider combining this tour with a short visit in the ruins of a 14th century castle in Ogrodzieniec (Extended program).

JOHN PAUL II ROUTE more...

Places which you will see during this trip belong to the most important ones on the papal trail of Pope John Paul II. Their peculiarity and uniqueness confirm this fact. Each year thousands of tourists and pilgrims visit these places.

Wadowice is a small, quiet city situated about 50 km from Krakow. It is the hometown of Karol Wojtyła, the late Pope of John Paul II. Here he grew up.

Important places which are worth visiting:
• The family house of John Paul II: Karol Józef Wojtyła was born in 1920 in this house. Nowadays the house is a museum with expositions of gathered illustrations of important moments from the life of the Polish Pope.
• The Basilica St. Mary: this baroque church was built in the 17th century in the center of Wadowice. It is located on the square of John Paul II. In this church Karol Wojtyła was baptized. The basilica is also known for its wonderful image of the Calvary Mother of God.

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is a centre of pilgrimage. The painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Kalwaria (Polish for Calvary), situated in the Bernadine (Grey Friar) Monastery, has been granted many miracles. Kalwaria is also a complex of 42 chapels and churches connected by Paths of Passion and the Mother of God. The „Cultural & Landscape Complex of the Monastery and Pilgrimage Park of the Bernadine Fathers” (officially name) is since 1999 listed on the UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage List

To extend your day, you could consider combining this tour with a short visit to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki and the “Have No Fear!” John Paul II Centre in the town of Łagiewniki (near Krakow center). The “Have No Fear!” John Paul II Centre in Krakow is the most important center of the Polish Pope’s work himself. It is John Paul II’s spiritual church. It is an expression of gratitude of the Polish nation and all people of good will who feel closely connected with John Paul II as a person and his work, regardless of their nationality or origin.

OSKAR SCHINDLER’S FACTORY more...

The Factory of Oskar Schindler is situated in the Lipowa Street 4. The museum is one of the most popular places on the cultural map of Krakow. The history of the factory and its owner Oskar Schindler is well known due to to the movie of Steven Spielberg „Schindler’s List” – based on true facts: Schindler rescued Jewish prisoners from the Płaszów camp during the II World War.

This interesting museum exhibits items that are supplemented with rich photographic and archival documentation, coming from Polish and foreign sources. Streaming film and radio fragments, in which residents of Krakow are telling their story from the years 1939-1945, submerge you into the exhibit. It isn’t a classic museum exhibition, it is an interesting exhibition combined with artifacts, pictures and documents with multimedia and set-piece arrangements in an attempt to create a full-immersion experience.

To learn more we suggest combining this visit to the museum with a tour through the historic district of Kazimierz, the former Jewish Ghetto. The tour can be done with an audio guide in a normal or electric car.
